Don’t forget folks, this coming Sunday is Mother’s Day. South Dakota Corn would like to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms out there. In this week’s Corn Comments, Woster reflects on the important role that moms play in the family and the growing role that mothers now play on the farm.

With spring planting rapidly approaching, South Dakota Corn is currently organizing their showplots for 2013.

This event includes a number of great speakers during the day followed by a fun evening with good food, friends and entertainment by the Rumbles.

A backyard barbecue in January, in South Dakota? No, Woster is not crazy, and yes you are invited! The South Dakota Corn Grower Association will be hosting their 27th annual meeting “Backyard Barbecue” on Saturday, January 19th at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.

This all-day event will feature another impressive lineup of speakers and entertainment including: Carl Casale, CEO of CHS; John Phipps, host of U.S. Farm Report; Charlie Arnot, CEO of the Center for Food Integrity; Fred Below, University of Illinois ag specialist; Mike Walsten, editor of Pro Farmer; Mark Gold, Top Third Marketing; Bill Davis, Farm Credit Services of America; and Ross Korves, ProExporter Network. This year’s entertainers are the Rumbles, a popular rock ‘n’ roll dance band that is beginning its farewell tour and celebrating its 50th anniversary.
